Professional Profile

I am an independently consultant in the field of mobility and traffic and transport. From 2014 to 2018 I served as deputy mayor of the city of Amsterdam, responsible for traffic and transport. In 2016 I launched the Amsterdam Smart Mobility action programme and I was responsible for the opening of the new subway line in Amsterdam, the Noord-Zuidlijn (connecting the northern part of Amsterdam with the southern part). With almost 20 years of public service, I'm experienced in the field of decision making in the public domain as well as in complex mobility issues. Before being called away to Amsterdam, I was a member of parliament of the Netherlands. From 2007 to 2012 I served as mayor of the city of Aalsmeer.
